How to Trust Your Intuition

Our intuition develops when we are babies, long before we are indoctrinated into Newtonian physics – which largely prohibits us from understanding the quantum world. Ironically, one of our first intellectual abilities – intuition – may be one of the greatest forms of intelligence we will ever experience in a “grown-up” world.

Have you ever found yourself stuck in a situation where you just didn't know what to do? Maybe you had a nagging feeling in your gut telling you one thing, but your logical mind was telling you another. This is where your intuition comes in. Your intuition is your inner voice that can guide you towards the right decisions and choices in life. However, following your intuition might seem tough, especially if you're not used to trusting yourself. In this guide, we'll show you how to tune in to your intuition, establish better boundaries, and love yourself more fully.

What is intuition and why is it important?

Intuition is your inner voice, your inner guidance system that can help you make better decisions and navigate life's challenges. It's that feeling in your gut that tells you to go left instead of right, or that something just doesn't feel right. Intuition is often seen as a mysterious force that we can't quite understand, but it's actually a natural ability that we all have.

One reason why intuition is so important is that it helps us connect with our true selves. When we're in touch with our intuition, we're more likely to make choices that align with our values and desires. Intuition also helps us to be more present in the moment and to tune out distractions, which can lead to a greater sense of calm and clarity.

Intuition can be defined as the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning. It is often described as a "gut feeling" or a "sixth sense." Intuition can be seen as a form of unconscious reasoning that allows us to make quick decisions based on our past experiences, knowledge, and emotions.

Intuition is important in several ways. First off, it can help us make quick decisions in situations where we don't have all the information or where there isn't enough time to consider all the options. Secondly, intuition can help us identify patterns or connections that we may not be able to see with conscious reasoning. When connecting to your Inner Muse, your intuition is a valuable tool for creativity and innovation, allowing you to come up with new ideas or solutions that we may not have arrived at through logical thinking alone.

Practical benefits aside, intuition can also help us connect with our emotions and our sense of purpose. By tapping into our intuition, we can gain a deeper understanding of our values and beliefs, and make decisions that align with our true selves. Overall, intuition can be a valuable tool for both personal and professional growth, helping us to navigate the complexities of life with greater ease and confidence.

Intuition vs. Trusting Your Gut

Intuition and "trusting your gut" are often used interchangeably, but there is a subtle difference between the two. Intuition is the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning, while "trusting your gut" refers to relying on your intuition when making a decision. Sometimes Intuition is labeled “woo” or “metaphysical.” While yes, this can be true, intuition is a normal, natural sense, just like our other five senses, and everyone has the ability to understand, strengthen and trust their intuition. Trusting your intuition is key to developing a keen self awareness, confidence and an ability to make decisions that are positive and impactful for you, your family, your business and your community.

Trusting your gut involves listening to your intuition and acting on it, even if it goes against conventional wisdom or logical analysis. It requires a level of self-awareness and the ability to differentiate between your intuition and other factors such as fear, bias, or social pressure.

Intuition vs. Ego

Intuition and ego are two different concepts that can sometimes be confused or conflated. Intuition is the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning, while ego refers to a person's sense of self-importance or self-esteem.

Intuition operates at a subconscious level and is not influenced by personal biases or desires. It can be seen as a form of inner guidance that helps us make decisions based on our past experiences and knowledge. Ego, on the other hand, is driven by personal biases and desires, and can sometimes cloud our judgment and prevent us from seeing things objectively.

When we rely too heavily on our ego, we may be more likely to make decisions that prioritize our own interests or desires over what is best for others or the situation at hand. This can lead to a lack of empathy, a narrow perspective, and a resistance to feedback or criticism. We’ve all been there and have seen an ego-monster unleashed!

When we tap into our intuition, we may be more likely to make decisions that are aligned with our true selves and values, and that take into account the needs and perspectives of others. This can lead to greater empathy, creativity, and a broader perspective. When we tap into our intuition, we can genuinely understand the whole picture without having all the information.

Essentially, trusting your intuition and "trusting your gut" are closely related, but "trusting your gut" involves acting on your intuition, while intuition itself is the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning. Both can be valuable tools for decision-making, especially when you are thinking from your heart and with your head.
